Street style – Rio de Janeiro

Photos taken from here and edited by me.

I am going to spend my summer holiday in Brazil!! More specifically in Rio de Janeiro *.* . I was born in the south of Brazil in Porto Alegre, but I was raised in Rio de Janeiro. The way that people dress in Rio is so UNIQUE! Probably  because of the weather, is basically always warm there. Other reason I think is the daily contact with the ocean. We have the beach so near us, is part of our lifestyle. Going to beach for a swim,to play volleyball, or just to have a nice walk there. Since I am going there soon, I figured it out that I needed some inspiration! Here are some characteristcs of the Rio style:

This is me in Rio with Adidas.

  • The cariocas (people born in Rio) love to use light fabrics! It is so warm so light materials are definetly a MUST.
  • They use lot of colours! The city itself is so full of life and inspiring, colours are everywhere!
  • Prints, prints prins! Cariocas are definetely not afraid of mixing all types of prints, textures, colours.
  • Cariocas want to be comfortable. Is very normal to go out just using some light dress and flip-flops ( every carioca has a Havainas flip-flop, no kidding).
  • Natural. Cariocas have that effordless charm, is like ” Oh I didnt even do anything to my hair, I just puted in a bum and now looks like this”. The girls use very little make up. Actually, in the summer in Rio make up is a  real struggle, you sweat so much it all just melts ahahah.

I hope you got some inspiration for the summer! I know I did! Can´t wait to go shopping for summer clothes full of coloursss!! *.*

What are your inspirations for this summer?? Are you already prepared for it??

Some people from Brazil ask me “Is there summer/spring in Finland or is there snow during the whole year?”. I always laugh at that question!! Yes, Finland can be very cold but there is also warm summer! It is true that probably 9 months of the year is like super cold ahahah BUT the other 3 months can be quite warm.In fact, Finland has one of the most beautiful spring/summer that I have seem! In the spring you can see everyday little by little all the flowers and nature coming back to life! Kind of sucks that in the rest of Europe it is already much warmer, but there isnt much that we can do besides wait and enjoy the little sun we get during some days. Soon warmer days will come *.*, i can feel it! It is also exciting that now a days it starts to get dark around 21:00h! In the summer we literally have endless days since the sun barely goes down!

How is the weather in your country at the moment?! Summer feelings already?

Few weeks ago me and my bf went on a one day road trip to a city called Seinäjoki. It is located around 2,5 hours by car from Tampere t to the north. In Finland, it is considered a “medium size” city, it has around 60,000 people living. We went there on a saturday. We arrived around 14:00 and almost everything was closeddd x.x, coffee places, stores and so on :(. The city looked super nice and all but the fact is that there was nothing to do hahaha.I wonder what people do there during the day time in weekends. At least we were lucky because the day was veryyy beautiful so we walked around and took photos! I´ve been in love with the new Gina Tricot collection, Im loving that white bag so much *.*. It was quite cheap but looks kind of fancy haha. Ive been liking this white and gold combo, simple but classy. Anyway, I just love road trips! Is so much fun to be in the car listening songs, look  through the window and think about life or just imagine yourself in that video clip hahaha. Plus, you are stuck in a car with the same person for several hours, so that can be veryy nice or really bad. But overall for me roadtrips have this kind of “magic” feeling.

Do you like road trips?? Or absolutely hate being inside a car for hours?

Piercing – Septum

I have been thinking about this piercing since the fall, but well, I was just thinking. I was kind of scared of my parents and family friends reaction to this one. A septum piercing is not so conventional as the other ones, even though nowadays is becoming more and more popular.

Here in Finland people are much more open about piercings and tattoos than in Brazil. For example, in Brazil when it comes to a job, sometimes they do not accept piercings, or tattoos that show. Here in Finland everybody is much more relaxed, no one cares if you have a tattoo or piercing in the middle of your face as long as you do your job.

Anyway, last thursday I got the courage and I was like “today is the day! Today or never!!”.

I went to Putka tattoo studio here in Tampere. I walked inside the shop scared as fuck, and this really good piercing professional called Anni came to talk to me. I had some questions about the septum piercing, for example:

HOW MUCH DOES IT HURT?!

CAN I PUT RIGHT AWAY A SMALL RING ? ( I never wanted a horseshoe, I always wanted the really small ring)

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES TO HEAL?

So she explained to me:

– Yeah it hurts but is going to be really fast!

-No we can not put a small ring, because it gets bit swollen and the small ring is going to pressure it

So she explained to me:

– Yeah it hurts but is going to be really fast!

-No we can not put a small ring, because it gets bit swollen and the small ring is going to pressure it and is gonna be uncomfortable. But after it heals up, you can change to whatever you wanna. After it heals up it doesn´t hurt at all to change it.

– To heal completly it takes around 2 months, but it can be sore for around 2 weeks.

After all my answers were clear, I waited one hour so they could clean the jewellery. After so much waiting, time for ACTION.

I sat down on the chair I looked to my side and I see this MASSIVE metal needle, I told her OMG IS THAT THE NEEDLE?!? IT ISN´T THAT WHITE SMALLER ONE??”  then she said it had to be this type for septum piercing. I got even more nervous of course hahha. Step my step bellow the photo.

1 – Yess the scary metal needle!! The piercing on the side and the thing that I dont know the name that looks like a mixtured of twizzer with scissors-.

2- She searchs for the right spot with this thing (that I don´t know the name).

3 – Moment of truth! After finding the right spot, she put the needle. Is REALLY FAST! Seriously it hurted much less then what I thought! I was like ” Thats it?? Is in?!”.

4 – Lovely photo of me with the needle. I know my face looks stupid, but I guess I have a relieved face ahhaha at this photo.

5 – She taked the needle off, and slides the piercing on the hole. Also super fast did not hurt at all. It bleeds a little after, that is why I had to clean it with a paper.

6 – All doneeeeeeeeeee, still in shock but happy!!

If you are thinking about getting one too, feel free to ask me questions about it!

Eurotrip – Barcelona

Our first full day was amazing in this beautiful full of life city!

To start off:  our hotel room has the best view we could have ever expected! It’s straight to Barcelona’s main cathedral *.*! It’s also super near to the shopping area hehe. We were also blessed with the weather +17C during the day yayyyy, almost like summer for a person that lives in Finland. At a few moments I felt so warm that I had to take my jacket off and walk only with t-shirt, showing my ghost looking sexy arms ahahha.

The name of the square our hotel is located is Avinguda de la Catedral, we went to eat breakfast outside the hotel because in the hotel is sooooo expensive 18 euros per person! As if I would eat 18 euros worth of food in the morning. So, I went to the easy go Starbucks and took 2 coffees. First I got my all time favourite Caramel Frapuccino with lactose free milk yammy. After I drank that I was feeling SOOO COLD, I had to take a warm cappucino to make me feel normal again (little cafeine overdose? yess, but Im in Barcelona I need energy anyway).

Breakfast done, we went to walk towards the port, it was only like 15 minutes by foot and it is absolutely beautiful! Sun was shining, there were many people skate boarding, lot of restaurants, lot of OMG big yachts, there were churros stands, sangria bars, live music and performances on the side walk.

To enjoy all buzz around  we decided to sit for a bit and have a sangria jar( 10 euros – 1 litre) and some churros (they are amazingg, they come in a bag with more then 7 churros ( I even forgot to count, I just started eating straight away) you can also have it with hot chocolate dip.

After relaxing we had a long walk by the beach, there was no one inside the water but the sand and the sidewalk were quite full. It was amazing to smell the sea again after a long time.We started to walk back towards the shopping mall located in the port, by then the sun was going away and the sun set took place. It was a magical day <3.  If one day you have the opportunity to travel, Barcelona should be in your top 10 list!
